Eda's Sugar Cookies
As a child my family never made sugar cookies during Christmastime. We made gingerbread houses and put out cookies for Santa, but we never had a day where we decorated sugar cookies. At 15 I felt like I was missing out on all the fun so I decided I would make some this Christmas. Better late then never! I made this recipe a few times before I liked the finished product. The first time decorating looked like 2 year old art, the second time was better, and the third time came out perfect. I ended up giving the cookies to my relatives as gifts and they loved them. I got this recipe from my great aunt Eda. This recipe is great for making with your friends, wrapping up and gifting, or even as a treat for Santa.
What you need:
1 1/3 cup unsalted butter
1 1/2 cups sugar
2 tsp. vanilla extract
8 tsp. milk
4 cups flour
1/2 tsp. salt
3 tsp. baking soda
Leave butter at room temperature. Cream butter and sugar together till blended. Add eggs, vanilla, and milk. In a separate bowl combine flour, salt, and baking soda. Gradually add flour mixture to butter mixture till dough forms. Let dough refrigerate overnight before using.*
After chilling roll dough out thin and cut dough into shapes.
Preheat oven to 375˚. Bake on lightly greased cookie sheet for 10 min. Enjoy :)
*Make sure to refrigerate the dough because it will affect how the cookies turn out. DONT SKIP!
